About the Artist
Brenda Byrne Gladwell
Brenda was born to bring color to life. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 with a BFA in Illustration, Brenda went right to work for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. From there she moved to the East Coast and worked for American Visual Arts, a freelance group, where she worked across the country for many commercial companies including: Lord and Taylor, Lenox, Enesco, Disney, Gund, and Russ Berrie. While raising a family, she attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia to earn her master's degree in art education in 2008. She has been educating future generations of artists ever since. She has been an art teacher at Microsoft's High School of the Future (Philadelphia, PA), Saint Ann School (Lawrence, NJ), and Trenton High School (Trenton, NJ).
Brenda creates artwork that expresses the joy of life around her. She pours her passion for art and her naturally vibrant personality into each stroke of her paintings. Her unique style of painting pays tribute to her favorite artist, Van Gogh. Brenda uses a process first invented over 450 years ago, using starch paste and pigments. The way the paints react gives her art visual energy and movement. Her artwork has been displayed at many exhibitions in the northeast including the Artworks Main Gallery (Trenton, NJ) where she won an award at the Trenton Art all Night Show, the Rehoboth Art League (Rehoboth Beach, DE), The Arts of Yardley Art Center (Yardley, PA), The Upstairs Gallery at Peddlar's Village (Lahaska, PA), Artisan Gallery (Lahaska, PA), Art Bridges (Stockton, NJ), and the Newtown Athletic Center (Newtown, PA),
